Felix is 8 weeks old today

Wednesday, 6th January 2021 marks Felix’ 8th week birthday. Everything I have read since I got him says that a kitten shouldn’t leave its mother until they are 8 weeks old. Some people say 12 weeks. Felix left his mother when he was 7 weeks and 4 days old. I hope the few days won’t have made any difference to his health and development. I trusted his previous carers to know what they were doing.

I weighed him today and he is much lighter than a usual cat of his age. Weighing in at just 559g (20oz), he is the weight of a six week old. From the base of his neck to the part where his tail starts is 175mm (6.89″) and from the gap between his ears 35mm (1.38″). His tail is 90mm (3.53″) long.

Felix tucking into his new cat biscuits

Yesterday evening, I added something different to his food, Purina One cat biscuits for sensitive cats. They say that they have a probiotic in them. Felix loves them and loved crunching them in between his normal soft cat food. I hope it helps his tummy and his next week.
